A Sock Monkey Party for My Little Man!

Wow!  Not a post since October 18th?  That sounds about right.  Things have been a little crazy for us the last few months.  We’re finally settling down.  Between then and now we’ve moved from Pittsburgh to Houston, our little man turned one, Christmas and New Year’s came and went, and here we are nearly in the middle of January!
Although we didn’t have a Holiday Collection this year, we still kept quite busy (thankfully).  I’ve slowly been adding some custom invites into the shop I’ve worked on in the last couple of months.  What I’m most excited to share though is what this post is all about–Grady’s first birthday!!
The Sock Monkey theme first came about when I saw (and eventually purchased) a darling sock monkey from Terrace Hill.  When you scroll down you’ll see him in one of the pictures!  Grady just absolutely loves him! I then realized what a craze sock monkeys had become and wanted to start a collection of my own for The Paper Plume. First came the invite, then the banner, and the cupcake toppers, you get the idea.  Then I realized that we’d be traveling to Ohio for the party.  Grady had to have a sock monkey winter hat!!  My search then led me to Hooked on Hudson.  They were crazy busy around the holidays but were able to get one to us.  The quality of their work is truly exceptional.

Okay, more party details…Dessert: we found a fantastic cupcake tower from Crave Cupcakes here in Houston and purchased wonderfully delicious cupcakes from Ele Cake Company near Dayton, Ohio.  Last year, I was lucky enough to win a gift certificate from Pom Flair that I used toward some very fun red and brown poms (shown below).  They came with a fantastic video to show my sisters and I how to ‘fluff’.

For favors we ‘borrowed’ an idea from the one and only Bakerella.   My WONDERFUL sisters and mom helped to put together jars filled with Bakerella’s cowgirl cookie mix.  I labeled the jars as “Monkey Munchies” and found the perfect fabric to cover them at (where else) Joann Fabrics.

More monkeyin around…
Big, big thanks to my talented, wonderful hubby for taking pictures while I was hostessing/chatting it up!  I can’t believe our Monkeypants has been with us for a year!
